“Much needed”: Angel Reese shares Serena Williams’ inspiring message ahead of WNBA debut

The 2024 WNBA Draft’s No. 7 pick, Angel Reese took to Instagram to share a message from tennis icon Serena Williams ahead of her WNBA debut. Williams and her brand, Will Perform, sent Reese a curated care package along with a note, which Reese then shared to her story on Instagram.

“Much needed for the start of training camp! Thank you @serenawilliams & @willperform 💖🔥,” Reese captioned.

Angel Reese will debut for the Chicago Sky in the upcoming 2024-25 WNBA season with her first match scheduled for May 15th against the Dallas Wings. She is also expected to play in two preseason games on May 5th and 8th before her official debut in the WNBA.

Angel Reese excited to play with Kamilla Cardoso for Chicago Sky

Angel Reese joined her former high school opponent Kamilla Cardoso at the Chicago Sky. Reese was picked 7th overall, while Cardoso was picked 3rd overall at the 2024 WNBA Draft.

Reese conveyed her excitement to play alongside Cardoso during the post-draft interview when she was asked about her fit with the team. The LSU athlete also shared that she looks forward to being coached by the Chicago Sky’s head coach, Teresa Weatherspoon.

“I’m just so excited, I get to play with Kamilla, I’ve been playing against her since high school so I’m excited to play with Kamilla and T. Spoon is amazing and she’s done some great things, I’m excited to be coached by her,” Reese said.

Reese led LSU to a national title in 2023 as its consensus best player while her teammate at the Sky, Kamilla Cardoso, boasts the size and strength that makes her a force to be reckoned with on both ends of the court.

Cardoso’s quick feet and size combined with Reese’s athleticism and explosive leaping ability are anticipated to make a powerful duo if they connect well on the WNBA stage.
