In recent developments, it has come to light that staff members of ITV’s “This Morning” raised concerns about chef Gino D’Acampo’s behavior as early as a decade ago.
Multiple crew and production team members reported instances of bullying and sexually inappropriate comments by D’Acampo to senior management.
Despite these reports, he continued to feature on the show until 2024.
An insider revealed, “It was no secret that Gino was difficult to work with, and many staff members dreaded being on set with him.
He would constantly joke about his manhood and make sexually explicit comments that would make people uncomfortable.”
The source added that D’Acampo’s status as “The Talent” allowed him to “throw his weight around,”
leading many to perceive him as a bully. When these concerns were brought to senior staff members, they reportedly felt dismissed.
Further allegations have surfaced, including claims that D’Acampo made “vile” sexual remarks about his co-star Holly Willoughby. A woman reported that in 2018, D’Acampo crudely commented on choosing between Willoughby and Fearne Cotton, stating, “If I could put the face of one on the body of the other then maybe, but I’d probably choose Holly because I’d have more fun with her.” The woman expressed her disgust, labeling him a “vulgar cretin.” Despite her complaints to ITV, she alleges that no investigation was conducted.
In response to these allegations, D’Acampo has firmly denied any wrongdoing. He stated, “I have never been made aware of these matters previously, and the allegations are firmly denied. I would not do anything that I thought would upset or distress anyone. … .”
ITV has since severed ties with D’Acampo, pulling episodes of his shows, including “Gino’s Italy: Secrets of … ,” from their schedule. A spokesperson for ITV commented, “Our promise to those we work with … that where a complaint is made, or serious concerns raised, we will always investigate, and if we find that … .”
These revelations have prompted discussions about workplace culture within television production environments and the importance of addressing complaints promptly and effectively. The situation underscores the need for media organizations to foster safe and respectful workplaces, ensuring that all employees feel empowered to voice their concerns without fear of retribution.
As the investigation continues, it remains to be seen what further actions will be taken and how this will impact D’Acampo’s career and ITV’s internal policies moving forward.
