The 2021 NBA Draft pick played in 67 games over two seasons with the franchise.

On Monday, Jones publicly announced he requested a trade on the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter.

He wrote: “I have officially requested to be traded from the Charlotte Hornets #GOATLIFE.”

The Hornets will chew over $3 million in dead money for Jones this season unless he’s claimed off waivers, which is highly unlikely.

Jones was absent from training camp, with the Hornets citing “personal reasons” in a statement.

The 6-foot-11 center then showed erratic behavior on social media, including criticism of his teammates.

Jones even had an exchange with free agent shooting guard Terence Ross on Instagram.

Ross questioned: “Is he there mentally?”

Jones replied: “I’m the greatest of all time, check my highlights.”

Ross then concluded: “So no.”

Jones averaged 2.7 points over his first two seasons in the NBA.

He’ll have just over a week to join an NBA roster before the start of the regular season.

The regular season tips off on Tuesday, October 24.

The Hornets’ season will begin on Wednesday, October 25 when they host the Atlanta Hawks at 7 pm EST.
