Another New England Patriots’ all-time great will is set to join old teammate Tom Brady and the Las Vegas Raiders’ ownership group.

After his retirement in 2023, it was announced that Brady was purchasing a stake in the Las Vegas Raiders. The team is owned by Mark Davis, who inherited the team from his father Al after the latter’s passing in 2011.

According to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, fellow Patriots legend and ex-Raider Richard Seymour is also joining the team’s ownership group:

“Per a source with knowledge of the situation, Hall of Fame defensive lineman Richard Seymour is close to finalizing a deal to become an owner and limited partner of the Raiders…

Seymour, we’re told, will join forces with Brady. Together (and with their own partners) they would own 10.4 percent of the team.”

In their 2023 NFL team valuations, Forbes listed the Las Vegas Raiders as the sixth-most valuable NFL franchise ($6.2 billion). Only the Dallas Cowboys ($9 billion), New England Patriots ($7 billion), Los Angeles Rams ($6.9 billion), New York Giants ($6.8 billion) and Chicago Bears ($6.3 billion) were valued higher.

Brady’s deal to become a minority Raiders’ team owner hasn’t been finalized. Florio added that the Brady-Seymour duo “would ideally be presented to ownership in October.”

Last year, Brady also became a minority owner of the WNBA’s Las Vegas Aces, also owned by Davis. The Aces have won back-to-back league championships and are aiming for a three-peat.

Seymour was a backbone of the Patriots’ first dynasty that won three Super Bowls over a four-year span (2001 to 2004). The seven-time Pro Bowler and three-time First-team All-Pro was traded to the Raiders in the 2009 offseason, and he spent the final four years of his Hall of Fame career there.

Las Vegas Raiders Open 2024 Season vs. Chargers

The Raiders will try to start their season on the right note when they visit the Los Angeles Chargers at SoFi Stadium in Week 1. This highly-touted contest will also mark Jim Harbaugh’s debut as the Chargers’ head coach.

Harbaugh was head coach of the Michigan Wolverines from 2015 to 2023, leading the school to a national championship in his final year at the helm before returning to the NFL.
