The New England Patriots reportedly lost out on the Calvin Ridley sweepstakes, but it wasn’t to the Jacksonville Jaguars, but to the Tennessee Titans in the same division.

Ridley reportedly decided to sign with the Tennessee Titans and will receive a four-year, $92 million deal with $50 million guaranteed.

Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer later added the Patriots offered around $22 million per season.

NFL insider Josina Anderson stated the Patriots will now look to the NFL Draft for help at the wide receiver position.

Tweeted Anderson: “#Patriots will mainly turn their attention to the Draft to address WR, I’m told. They’ve ‘moved on.’ Remember, splashes come in the W/L column.”

A first-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, Ridley played last season in Jacksonville and caught 76 passes for 1,016 yards and eight touchdowns.

The Patriots went 4-13 in 2023 and missed the postseason for the second consecutive season and the third time in the last four seasons. It led to the dismissal of long-time head coach Bill Belichick and the eventual trade of 2021 first-round pick Mac Jones.

Demario Douglas led New England with 561 yards on 49 receptions last season. Hunter Henry caught 42 passes for 419 yards and a team-high six touchdowns last season.
