Prayers up for one NFL star as he is dealing with a tragic loss in his family.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin recently took to his social media account to grief over his father’s sudden passing. To honor his father, Godwin, in an emotional tribute, posted a long note for his old man on Instagram while sharing a series of heartwarming pictures of him and his father.

Rod Godwin Sr.’s cause of death is also not known yet.

“Growing up, you were my hero. The love you poured into your children is what allowed me to believe I could accomplish my dreams.”

“I’ve always been and will always be proud to be your son.”

“Whatever I was interested in, you nurtured those dreams and fully supported me. I’ll never forget you screaming “HALF MAN, HALF MONSTER, THE MANSTER!” at all of my games.”

The NFL world and the entire Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ family are emotionally present for wide receiver Godwin.

The news of Chris Godwin’s father’s demise comes after another heartbreak as the team lost the divisional round game against the Detroit Lions by 8 points. Godwin brought in four of eight targets for 40 yards in the Buccaneers’ 31-23 divisional-round loss to the Lions.

It was a busy year for Godwin, who had 130 targets and 83 catches but just 2 touchdowns. He also had his third-straight 1,000 season.

He is entering the final year of a three-year, $60 million deal.
