A former NFL coach has been relieved of his post as the co-host of a football radio show ahead of next season.

Charlie Weis revealed this week that SiriusXM took him off ‘Airing It Out.’

“For those of you expecting to hear me this morning on ‘Airing it Out’, the powers to be have decided to go in another direction,” he wrote on X this Monday. “I have enjoyed talking ball with you and will miss being on the team. Thanks!”

Weis had been a co-host alongside New York Giants announcer Bob Papa since 2017.

SiriusXM NFL Radio’s site still features a photo of Weis on the ‘Airing It Out’ page, but his name is not in the description. “Bob Papa and his cast of former players and coaches bring you closer to the game as they provide their opinions on all the latest news in the NFL,” it reads.

Papa has since confirmed that the show will have a rotating panel of co-hosts moving forward. Former NFL defensive lineman Leger Douzable sat with him for Monday’s show.

“Going to miss you!” Papa he told Weis.

Charlie Weis Spent Many Of His Years As A College And NFL Coach

Charlie Weis coached high school football in New Jersey before spending over a decade as an NFL coach, working as an offensive coordinator on the New York Jets team that went 12-4 and scored the second-most points in the NFL.

He was hired as an OC by the New England Patriots two years later.

The 68-year-old won a Super Bowl as part of the same Giants staff as Bill Belichick and would later work under the latter, helping the Pats win three Super Bowls before taking on the head coaching job at Notre Dame.

Weis went 35-27 with the college program before returning to the pros, becoming the offensive coordinator for the Kansas City Chiefs.

He also had stints as an OC with the Florida Gators and as the HC of the Kansas Jayhawks before retiring from coaching.
