Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have “open their home” to those fleeing California wildfires after after encouraging others to do the same.
The Telegraph has revealed that as well as opening their own home to “friends and loved ones forced to evacuate”, the Duke and Duchess are also understood to have contributed clothing, children’s items, and other essential supplies to those affected.
This news comes shortly after the couple took to their website encourage people to help if they can, writing on Sussex.com, “If a friend, loved one, or pet has to evacuate and you are able to offer them a safe haven in your home, please do. And be sure to check in with any disabled or elderly neighbours to see if they need help evacuating.
“Some families and people have been left with nothing. Please consider donating clothing, children’s toys and clothing, and other essentials. The American Red Cross is on the ground helping those in need.”
The couple, who moved to California in 2020, live 90 miles from the heart of the blaze.
Meghan, 43, and Harry, 40, are also said to be working with staff from their Archewell Foundation to identify the most effective ways to support the community and donations have been made to the relief effort through the foundation.
