Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa isn’t taking any chances when it comes to safeguarding his family.

In light of a string of break-ins targeting professional athletes, including a recent incident at Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow’s home, Tagovailoa detailed the proactive steps he has taken to enhance security.

Tagovailoa revealed he has already experienced a property crime, which prompted his decision to hire personal security.

While his situation didn’t involve a break-in, it struck close enough to home for him to take action.

“Well, I have personal security just because my house had gotten broken into…not necessarily my house, but one of my cars, and so it’s a little too close for my comfort with my family being in the house,” Tagovailoa said.

“So we got personal security to take care of all of that when we’re on the road. We got someone with my wife, got someone also at the house surveying the house.”

Emphasizing the seriousness of the measures, Tagovailoa added a pointed warning: “So just to let that be known, they are armed. So I hope if you decide to go to my house, you think twice.”

The quarterback clarified that the car theft occurred last year or the year before, but his decision to enlist security came more recently.

His approach underscores the growing concern among athletes after several high-profile cases, including break-ins at the homes of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce.

Despite the heightened security, Tagovailoa said he doesn’t feel like a specific target. Instead, his precautions stem from a desire to avoid any risk to his family.

“I wouldn’t say necessarily I would be a target,” he continued. “But I wouldn’t want to play the chances with my family and my kids sleeping, my wife sleeping, me sleeping at the house.”

For Tagovailoa, the focus remains clear: ensuring his family’s safety and peace of mind in a time of uncertainty for many professional athletes.

The recent string of home burglaries has been extremely alarming. Hopefully more high-profile players follow in Tua’s footsteps.
