The 2024 WNBA draft class has been one of the most hyped rookie groups in the history of the league, primarily because of the influence of Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese, which dates back to their college days. Drafted six spots apart, the two rookies have stood out and have been in debates over who will win the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year.

The two players have been playing well for their respective teams. Caitlin Clark, the first overall pick, is averaging 15.6 points, 6.0 assists, 4.9 rebounds and 1.4 steals in her first 14 games.

Meanwhile, Angel Reese had her best game to date against the Connecticut Sun on Wednesday, tallying 20 points and 10 boards, and is racking up some impressive numbers.

Angel Reese is now averaging 12.2 points and 10 rebounds per game in her rookie year and has a double-double in each of her last five games. Her strong performances have gotten some fans excited about her chances to win Rookie of the Year.

“Gonna put my bets in for ROTY now,” said @_DonWick.

“Rookie of the year is in her hands at this point,” posts @clutch2_j.

“She’s looking more and more like the front runner for Rookie of the Year,” replies @Ooh_Im_Fanceyy.

More than the ROY race, most fans praised how Reese has been performing for the Chicago Sky.

“I go so hard for Reese because she plays so hard. She puts her heart into it every game. Forever a Reese’s Piece,” reacts @Gwinnin23.

“Her game is translating well,” said @Chugggs.

Of course, there is the other end of the spectrum where some downplayed Reese’s recent accomplishments.

“Lost 3 games in a row and Edwards was the BEST rookie tonight, thank you and good night,” said @allanbarcoff

“11th worst shooter in the league from 2’s,” Rajkuma71939123 posts.

Angel Reese tallies a double-double again but Chicago Sky lose third straight game

The Chicago Sky suffered after a heartbreaking loss to the league-worst Washington Mystics, 83-81, on Friday. Angel Reese did her part in controlling the paint with 14 rebounds to go along with 10 points. Despite Reese’s double-doubles, the Sky have now lost three straight games and have dropped to 4-8 on the season.

Meanwhile, Caitlin Clark in the last few games after scoring 30 points against the Washington Mystics, has struggled against the Connecticut Sun and the Atlanta Dream. She has only scored a total of 17 points in those games and turned the ball over 10 times.

Up next for Reese and the Sky is another marquee clash with Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever on June 16 at the Gainsbridge Fieldhouse.
