Loose Women star Carol McGiffin has branded her own ‘new look’ with a ‘face full of fillers’ as ‘very very disturbing’.

The 62-year-old was sat beside fellow panellists Charlene White, Denise Welch and Katie Piper as they discussed non-surgical cosmetic procedures, like lip fillers, amid calls from MPs for greater regulation in the industry.

Currently there is little regulation over who can offer these treatments, leaving clients vulnerable to botched jobs and unsafe practices, however, MPs involved in the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Beauty, Aesthetics, and Wellbeing (APPG) are now putting pressure on the government to review this and instil industry-wide change.

Trying to see what she would look like with a face full of fillers, Carol actually used an Instagram face filter, however, she admitted the look was ‘disturbing’.

The Loose Women star has been open about undergoing a facelift before, explaining at the time that she did it to help reclaim ownership of her self, admitting: ‘I did it to make myself feel better.’

However, her look on Thursday’s show, with her new ‘face full of fillers’ was quite different.

She said: ‘I’ve had a facelift as everybody knows and I haven’t had all of that work done that was in that picture that we used earlier.

‘That is a very, very disturbing look for me.’

‘It’s an app or a filter or something that my friend used when he came over to stay to see what I would look like if I went too far,’ she added, commenting that it is ‘worrying’ to see young people ‘aspiring’ to look like that.

Denise added: ‘They know it’s a false look as well, they know it’s a completely manufactured look.’

‘There should be definitely more regulation. I think there should be an age limit [and] consultations for people to make sure they haven’t got any dysmorphia,’ Carol continued.

Asking the rest of the panellists, Carol questioned: ‘When you can’t afford that cost anymore what happens to your mental health if you look in the mirror and see a wrinkle? It’s really quite worrying actually.’

Charlene, Denise and Katie were all on board with Carol’s point, with Katie, who has had reconstructive surgery herself, denying that she thinks people who have cosmetic procedures like fillers are ‘superficial’.

‘Short answer is no I don’t,’ she said. ‘I think it’s such a complex thing,’ before adding that she also thinks there should be more regulations for procedures.
