Reba McEntire and Taylor Swift,

Reba McEntire has no time for rumors, especially when it involves her with one of the world’s biggest pop stars, Taylor Swift. The 68-year-old country singer took to her Instagram page to shut down a story that originated from the America Loves Liberty Facebook page, where they alleged there was a feud between the two women over the Super Bowl.

The erroneous post stated, “Reba McIntire talks about how disappointed she was to look up at the big screen while performing The National Anthem, only to see Taylor Swift laughing and drinking and making a mockery of the event. ‘I let her have it afterward. She’s an entitled little brat.’” The Facebook account even claimed that McEntire gave them a direct quote while misspelling her last name. That’s why The Voice judge stepped right up to tell her fans it was all nonsense.

“Please don’t believe everything you see on the Internet,” she wrote in the caption of her Instagram post. “I did not say this. Taylor is a wonderful artist, strong role model and has done so much good for so many people and the music industry. McEntire’s moving rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner” has been played over three million times on YouTube and had a least one member of the Kansas City Chiefs in tears at the Super Bowl. While that explanation should have satisfied fans, there was an anti-Swift group that took over McEntire’s comments — and it wasn’t pleasant.

“Love you Reba but Taylor is no role model for young girls,” wrote one critic. Another account added, “Reba your blind then. Taylor swift has sold her soul. How is drinking & partying being a role model to little girls?” One trolling account was willing to bet their left kidney that Swift might not be so sweet, writing, “Reba might not have SAID THIS, but I’d bet my left kidney TS actually did this.” The internet is a bonkers place sometimes.

It’s pretty easy to confirm Swift’s behavior since it was a globally televised event and there was always a camera aimed at her. And last we remembered; the “Shake It Off” singer is 34 years old, well past the legal drinking age. She’s allowed a cocktail to celebrate the Super Bowl. But McEntire and Swift have been nothing but supportive of each other over the years. “The very first time I ever heard Taylor sing live was on the CMA Awards, she was singing ‘Tim McGraw,’ playing the guitar,” McEntire shared on NBC’s TikTok page last fall. “I’m like, ‘This girl’s gonna be a huge star. I was impressed.”
