NFL insider Ian Rapoport has offered an interesting update on New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

The union between Rodgers and the Jets hasn’t gone as planned. The team’s 3-8, even with the veteran quarterback now healthy enough to play, and it appears they may have been better off with Zach Wilson.

Rodgers does not look like the player who won four MVPs in Green Bay and, per a shocking report, could have gotten benched several weeks ago had coaches not convinced owner Woody Johnson to leave him in as the starter.

According to Rapoport, the former Packers star has been dealing with “hamstring, Knee and ankle” problems all season, but he has avoided getting medical scans because he doesn’t want to know how bad they are in fear of getting benched.

“One source explained that Rodgers has resisted getting scans done, not wanting to reveal the severity of his injuries out of fear of having to come off the field. He has insisted that he keep playing,” the NFL Network reporter wrote in an article published on Sunday morning.

“The hamstring injury he suffered against the Broncos on Sept. 29 was believed to be a particularly significant one, but Rodgers assured everyone it was fine. Asked about it, a source said, he would simply say, “I’m playing”.”

Aaron Rodgers Doesn’t Appear To Have A Future With The Jets

In any case, it doesn’t appear that Rodgers has much of a future with the Jets. It’s been reported that they could release him before the end of the season – of course, his fate is still in his hands as he could mend everything with a turnaround in form.

The QB will have some time to rest and possibly heal, with the team on a bye week. The Jets are scheduled to play the Seattle Seahawks at home next Sunday and will hope Rodgers and Davante Adams can find the gear that made them such a formidable duo for the Packers.
