The Dallas Cowboys won’t be going to the playoffs this year, but the same can’t be said for Ezekiel Elliott.

The former Pro Bowl running back was released by the team at his request near the end of the regular season and has since signed with a new organization.

According to FOX’s Jordan Schultz, Elliott is joining the Los Angeles Chargers.

The Chargers had previously been named as a potential destination for the player, given injuries to Gus Edwards and J.K. Dobbins. Elliott should give head coach Jim Harbaugh a solid option in the backfield, considering his playoff experience and ability in short-yardage situations.

Ezekiel Elliott Had A Difficult Second Spell With The Cowboys

Elliott’s second stint in Dallas wasn’t as fruitful as the parties imagined when they opted to reunite.

The Cowboys were one of the worst teams in the NFL all season at running the football and weren’t that great at defending the run, either. Elliott’s return did not improve them, leading to yet another split.

He will now look to help the Chargers move past the Houston Texans in the upcoming Wild Card round.
