It appears that the Jacksonville Jaguars will be without star quarterback Trevor Lawrence for the rest of the 2024 season.
Three days after he suffered a concussion on a dirty hit from Houston Texans linebacker Azeez Al Shaair, the Jaguars announced that Trevor Lawrence has been placed on the injured reserve.
This means that Lawrence will miss a minimum of four games, so he wouldn’t be eligible to return until Week 18 against the Indianapolis Colts. But with the Jags (2-10) out of the playoff race, and with Lawrence also nursing a shoulder injury, it’s unlikely that he’ll return to the field for the season finale.
With Trevor Lawrence likely done for the season, backup Mac Jones takes over as the starting quarterback in Duval County. With Jones in a contract year, the 2021 first-round pick has the chance to increase his free agent stock.

Azeez Al-Shaair was ejected for the unnecessary head shot on Lawrence in the second quarter of Sunday’s game, and the league subsequently handed down a three-game suspension to him.

Assuming he’s done for 2024, Lawrence’s season ends with a 60.6 completion percentage for 2,045 yards, 11 touchdowns and seven interceptions. After recording back-to-back winning seasons, the Jags will merely try to avoid finishing with football’s worst record for the third time in five years.
Jacksonville will try to pick up its third win when they visit the Tennessee Titans on Sunday.
Jaguars Need To Get Trevor Lawrence More Help In 2024
It’s unfair to put too much of the blame on Jacksonville’s $275 million quarterback. It’s clear that Doug Pederson’s magical 2022 season in Duval County was a mirage, and that the Jags need a new head coach.
Lawrence needs a better offensive line and a defense that can actually make pivotal stops. And seeing how many offensive players disappointed, the front office shouldn’t be shy to shake up the skill positions around T-Law.
