Heading into Conference Championship weekend, the Seattle Seahawks and Washington Commanders remain the only NFL teams that have yet to fill their head coaching vacancies.

In a surprise move, the Seahawks announced after their regular season campaign that Pete Carroll would not return as head coach. Though Carroll was reassigned to an advisor role, he said at his press conference that it wasn’t his call to stop coaching.

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Seahawks have “interest in” Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald. Though they haven’t asked for an interview with Macdonald, Fowler said he’s “a name to watch.”

Macdonald interviewed with the Tennessee Titans and Atlanta Falcons, but they wound up hiring Brian Callahan (previously the Cincinnati Bengals’ offensive coordinator) and Raheem Morris (the Los Angeles Rams’ defensive coordinator), respectively.

The Ravens finished third in scoring defense under Macdonald last year after he replaced Don “Wink” Martindale in that position. This year, they had the No. 1 scoring D (16.5 points allowed per game) en route to football’s best record.
