The New York Jets are under the microscope again following a new bombshell report from The Athletic’s Zach Rosenblatt and Dianna Russini.

The report, based on interviews with 30 sources in and around the Jets organization, casts the team in a pretty bad light as its 2023 campaign has been described as one “riddled with excuse-making, a paranoid head coach, an ill-equipped offensive coordinator and an organizational tunnel vision on the quarterback that rubbed some teammates wrong.”

Head coach Robert Saleh was, of course, one of the focal points. The Atletic’s piece claims he threatened to take his coaches’ phones during the latter part of the season. He was desperate to identify the individual who leaked that Zach Wilson was hesitant to return to the starting lineup amid an internal quarterback carousel.

Aaron Rodgers was critical of the incident during one of his appearances on ‘The Pat McAfee Show’ as he admitted that there was a “problem” within the team’s structure.

“That’s a problem with the organization,” Rodgers said “We need to get to the bottom of whatever this is coming from and put a stop to it privately, because there’s no place in a winning culture … and this isn’t the only time. There’s been a bunch of other leaks.”

“That sent Saleh into a tailspin,” The Athletic reports. “The coach held a meeting with his staff two days later where he asked the leaker to reveal himself, according to multiple people in attendance. “If you come forward now, you won’t get in trouble,” he told them while threatening to take their cell phones. Staffers were bemused by Saleh’s obsession with the Wilson story and his reaction to it.”
The Jets will hope for a much-improved 2024, with Rodgers expected to be healthy after sitting the entire campaign out in 2023. As for Wilson, the younger QB is likely to be traded as the team has reportedly informed him of its intention to move on.
