There’s an interesting rumor floating around social media suggesting that the Dallas Cowboys may soon perform a blockbuster trade.

But here’s the catch: It’s not quite the blockbuster trade that would make Dallas Cowboys fans happy. And it certainly wouldn’t fulfill Jerry Jones’ promise of the team using an “all-in” offseason strategy.

With training camp approaching, the Cowboys have yet to extend quarterback Dak Prescott, wide receiver CeeDee Lamb or linebacker Micah Parsons. Prescott and Lamb are entering the final year of their respective deals, while Parsons is eligible for an extension with two years left on his rookie deal.

X/Twitter user @prettyrickey213 stated that Dallas’ star wide receiver will seek a trade if he doesn’t get $32 million-plus annually. The rumor states that Lamb seeks “to be at least the second highest paid WR in the NFL.”

Keep in mind that this is merely a rumor, and there aren’t any indicators that the Dallas Cowboys would consider trading Lamb. Also, the All-Pro wideout hasn’t at all hinted at wanting to leave Dallas.

The three-time Pro Bowler is coming off a career year in which he tallied 135 receptions (the most in the NFL) for 1,749 yards and 12 touchdowns. Lamb has 395 catches for 5,145 yards and 30 touchdowns through his first four seasons.

Dallas Cowboys Need To Pay CeeDee Lamb

The Cowboys could try and trade CeeDee Lamb for a monumental return that would include at least one first-round pick. But at the end of the day, draft picks are lottery tickets.

Lamb has asserted himself as a top-five receiver in the game. It’s no coincidence that Dak Prescott has played his best football since Lamb’s arrival in 2020, and the Cowboys would be doing a great disservice to their QB by dealing his top weapon.

As much criticism as Jerry gets, he’s also too smart to let a special player like Lamb go.
