The Voice UK judge Sir Tom Jones has opened up about his future on the ITV show, as the iconic singer admitted that the role is ‘the perfect job’ for him
Sir Tom Jones has opened up about his future on The Voice, declaring it’s “it’s the perfect job”.
The 84-year-old has been a coach on the UK version of the singing competition alongside Will.i.am since 2012. Despite the show now being in its 13th season, Tom admitted he still relishes his long-standing role.
On BBC’s The One Show on Thursday (August 22), Tom revealed that his passion for the show remains unchanged. Speaking to hosts Alex Jones and Clara Amfo, the legendary singer said: “I like listening to new voices and hopefully I can give some advice.”
“So it’s the perfect job for me- well it’s not really a job- it’s something that I love to do. I still feel the same way now because this is the 13th series, so I still feel the same way now as I did when we started because you get new voices all the time, new people coming on,” he elaborated, reports Wales Online.
While Tom seems set to continue in his role as a judge, this year’s series will introduce three new faces to the famous judging panel. Following the departures of Olly Murs and Anne Marie, The Voice UK is making a comeback on ITV, with LeAnn Rimes and McFly’s Tom Fletcher and Danny Jones- who will share a seat.
The McFly members will act as one and agree on which singers they want to coach. However, in a recent candid chat, the duo confessed that it hasn’t always been straightforward to make decisions together.
Danny, the former star of The Voice Kids, quipped: “We had it in our contract that any arguments wouldn’t be aired.” Tom also came clean with a revelation.
He admitted: “There was one time when Danny grabbed my hand and slammed it on the buzzer. I was undecided but Danny had already made up his mind.”
The vocal pair are eager to impart their 21 years of music industry savvy. They shot to stardom back in 2003 when they joined forces with Harry Judd and Dougie Poynter to create the hit band McFly.
The One Show airs weekdays at 7pm on BBC One.
