An ambulance was called to Elstree Studios where Strictly is filmed and the 34-year-old was brought to hospital by medics.

As a result, her celebrity partner JB was left standing alone as Claudia and Tess revealed he was through to next week’s competition.

Following the news, Claudia told him: “I know you’re here without Amy, but on behalf of both of you, how happy are you that you’re not in the bottom two?”

The JLS singer replied: “Honestly, I’m beside myself, and Amy, of course, is going to be so happy that we’re through to icons.”

He added how Amy and him will perform a Bruno Mars medley during next week’s show.

A spokesperson for Amy said: “Amy was feeling unwell and so an ambulance was called as a precaution.

“She is feeling much better and would like to thank the Strictly family for their love and concern.

“We request Amy’s privacy in matters of health is kindly respected.

An East of England Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We were called just after 9pm on Saturday to attend a medical emergency at Elstree Studios in Borehamwood.

“An ambulance was sent to the scene. One patient, an adult female, was transported to Barnet Hospital for further care.

Confirming her absence from Sunday’s results show, a spokesperson for the BBC told The Sun: “Due to unforeseen circumstances, Amy Dowden MBE was unable to be in tonight’s results show.”

Amy, 34, rejoined the series this year after being diagnosed with stage three breast cancer in May of last year and couldn’t fully participate in the 2023 show.

She has previously talked at length about the excruciating pain she suffers as a result of her Crohns, an inflammatory disease of the digestive system, and how it has hospitalised her on many occasions
