Sunday night saw Pete Wicks and Jowita Przystal’s Strictly journey finally come to an end after several weeks scrapping at the bottom of the leaderboard.

The pair fell into the bottom two and were forced to dance off against Love Island star Tasha Ghouri and her pro partner Aljaz Skorjanec.

But the judges chose to save Tasha, sending her and Aljaz to next week’s final and sending Pete and Jowita home at the final hurdle.

But before all of that, fans say they spotted an odd moment from judge Anton Du Beke, who appeared to ‘let slip’ that he already knew Pete and Jowita would be going home before the votes were even cast.

@tuti789 said: “I kinda knew last night with something Anton said (‘you brought this out on your last dance’) and then he tried to quickly take back what he’d said. Either way, you did brilliantly, absolutely outstanding Argentine tango last night, loved it.”

@mandiebridges73 said: “Anton wouldn’t have known. The votes hadn’t been done yet.”

@xoxdarrionrose said: “That’s the point. I mean I don’t want to believe it would be a fix but blunders like that do make you wonder. There’s nothing like that to get the nation talking eh #notconvinced.”

But @thepinktriblle disagreed, adding: “Anton didn’t mean ‘last dance’ as in ‘you’re next off and I already know’. He meant last dance before the public decided.

“It was only because he realised how it sounded that he stumbled a little on his words, not because of it being a fix!

“Too much gets read into what people say sometimes.”

Pete Wicks issued a gushing statement about Jowita following the pair’s exit, telling her she has become ‘a special person’ in his life.

He told her: “The show isn’t just what you see on a Saturday night, it’s not all jazz hands… there are an unbelievable amount of wonderful people that make it all happen. From top to bottom, the people that make the show are f*****g magical.

“Every department is full of people who care, who create and work so hard to make Strictly what it is. Thank you all for putting up with me for so long!

“Lastly but most importantly, this experience wouldn’t have been anything without Jowita. She believed in me since the first day and never stopped. She supported me, listened to me, made me laugh and cry but most of all she made me believe in myself when I didn’t think I could do it.

“You have become such a special person in my life and just because that won’t continue on a ballroom floor doesn’t mean it won’t continue. Unfortunately for you, you’ve gained a friend for life. You will always be my dancing gnome.”
