Professional dancer Amy Dowden made an honest assessment of 2024 as she prepares to bring in the new year.
The Strictly Come Dancing star took to Instagram to pen her announcement. She wrote: “New Year’s Eve can be hard for some. I know too well. Last year struggling seeing everyone’s memories of the past year when I felt I’d been robbed of the year, was going into uncertainty and didn’t feel the slightest bit like Amy.
“Please don’t feel alone, reach out to a loved one or there’s many helplines (which I’ll share on my next story). Remember you never truly know what someone is going through. I’m sending all my Welsh love to those who need it entering 2025. And I’ll forever keep saying this too shall pass. Don’t get bitter get better and remember to check yourself.”

Amy went on to share numbers and details of organisation that can help those in need.
Amy is currently preparing to go back on tour with Strictly after needing to pull out of this year’s BBC contest through injury. The much-loved star had to quit the 2024 series – which saw Chris McCausland and Dianne Buswell claim the Glitterball trophy – after breaking a bone in her foot.
Her celebrity partner, JB Gill, continued to take to the dancefloor with Lauren Oakley, with the pair making it to the final. When asked by BBC Breakfast host Sally Nugent earlier this month how she is currently doing now, Amy said: “I’m doing really well, thank you, yeah, really good. To dance in the final was just lush. Especially considering the two years that I’ve had, absolutely!”
Shortly before her exit from the most recent series, where TV chiefs had to make an urgent 999 call after she fell ill backstage, she had told the Mirror she had “finally felt like me again”. Her turbulent time on Strictly came following a devastating few years for her health following a breast cancer diagnosis in May of last year and her continued battle with Crohn’s.
The Strictly tour in 2025 will see the judges – Motsi Mabuse, Anton Du Beke, Shirley Ballas and Craig Revel Horwood – return as well as former professional dancer Janette Manrara who will host, the same as previous years.
Also back with a bang for the live shows will be a selection of this year’s celebrities, with Jamie Borthwick, Wynne Evans, Tasha Ghouri, JB Gill, Montell Douglas, Sarah Hadland and Shayne Ward shimmying their way back onto the dancefloor.
