VETERAN quarterback Joe Flacco has reached an agreement on a contract with the Indianapolis Colts.

Flacco went on a miraculous run with the Cleveland Browns last season on his way to a Comeback Player of the Year award.

The Colts signed Flacco on a one-year deal worth up to $8.7 million, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Flacco will receive $4.5 million guaranteed in the deal.

The nearly $9 million contract is a far cry from what Flacco used to earn, as the biggest contract he pulled in his career was a six-year $120 million deal after the completion of his rookie contract.

However, his deal with the Colts is the highest value Flacco has earned since 2018.

The 39-year-old is set to serve as a backup and mentor to the Colts’ young quarterback Anthony Richardson.

Richardson spent most of last season sidelined due to shoulder surgery and only got four games of experience in his rookie year.

Flacco will bring valuable wisdom for the 21-year-old second-year quarterback.

Flacco spent 11 years as the starting quarterback of the Baltimore Ravens after being drafted No. 18 overall in the 2008 NFL Draft.

He went on to win the Super Bowl with the Ravens and was named MVP of game in 2013.

Flacco spent four years as a backup between the Denver Broncos and New York Jets before his special run for the Browns at the end of last season.

The veteran quarterback passed for 1,616 yards in five games and threw for 13 touchdowns while securing a playoff bid for the Browns.

His recent success should be valuable for the Colts to pass along to their young franchise quarterback who they hope can take the team to the playoffs for the first time since 2020.

The Colts finished at 9-8 last year with backup quarterback Gardner Minshew leading the way for most of the season.

With a fully healthy Richardson in 2024, the Colts have a good shot to improve their record and break back into the playoffs.
