The Associated Press put their foot in their mouth by using the wrong featured image to announce Raheem Morris’ appointment on Thursday.

Morris, the former defensive coordinator for the Los Angeles Rams, is the new head coach of the Atlanta Falcons.

It’s a pretty big deal given the fact that he’s the first Black head coach in team history. But the AP ended up using a photo of Carolina Panthers DC Ejiro Evero instead of Raheem’s as they reported the development.

Evero could soon land a head coaching job himself as he is believed to be a top candidate for the opening in Seattle, with the Seahawks removing Pete Carroll from his post as head coach a few weeks ago.

As for Morris, he joins the Falcons with a burgeoning reputation, having won two Super Bowls as a coach. He’s also very familiar with the team as he’s worked with them in other capacities before.

The former DC is said to have “killed” his interview with the team as he beat Bill Belichick to the job.

The six-time Super Bowl winner was interviewed on two occasions and it was expected that he would be appointed. However, the Falcons decided to pass on him in favor of Morris.
