Sir Tom Jones has been a coach on The Voice for years and the legendary singer made a candid admission about his career and the show – and fans were left in agreement
Sir Tom Jones has turned into an unmistakable presence on The Voice, and while retirement isn’t in his sights just yet, he candidly opened up about contemplating the end of his journey.
The esteemed Sir Tom, alongside fellow coaches will.i.am, LeAnn Rimes, and newcomers Danny Jones and Tom Fletcher, took a pause to muse over his storied life in showbiz, expressing disbelief at being 84 this year.
He shared with his co-stars: “It’s a wonderful life, you know, show business. When you perform on stage and you get that love coming back from the audience. You think ‘What could be better than this? ‘ and that’s the way I still feel today. Like I did when I was a kid,” reports Wales Online.
To which Black Eyed Peas frontman will.i.am responded: “To see you here, still being that inspiration and still being active, is just mind-boggling.”
In a soul-baring moment, the iconic ‘Sex Bomb’ vocalist confided: “It is to me as well. As the years go on, you think ‘How long is this voice going to last? ‘. I’m on stage and I open up and there it is and I think ‘Is that voice coming from me?’ and that’s the God’s honest truth, you know. I’m 84 this year.”

You were fabulous and unbelievable concert so glad I had the opportunity to see you again. Any chance you get to see Tom Jones live it is like no other experience and he sings with passion and from his heart. Despite speculation about his future on the show, Sir Tom has shown no signs of hanging up his hat, even as his ex-colleague Anne Marie opened up about the possibility of him retiring.
In a conversation with Express.co.uk and other media outlets, the ‘2002’ hitmaker revealed: “He feels like every time he does a show, he said to us…’Because I was like, ‘Are you bored? Are you done? I was like, ‘You have experienced so much and nothing is new to you’, and he said, ‘Every time I hear a new voice, it is the best feeling ever’.”
“He just loves it,” she concluded, highlighting Sir Tom’s undying passion for music.
