Fans have this huge complaint with Marvel, and are curious about its failings despite mammoth budgets

For over a decade, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been the flagbearer when it comes to CGI and VFX. Marvel’s enthralling and realistic graphics are what made it dominate the global box office and generate billions in revenue, making it one of the biggest franchises of all time. However, lately, MCU has been failing in every department including graphics.

MCU’s last couple of projects including She-Hulk, which had a huge budget of $225 million (making Game of Thrones budget look minuscule), have been failing in the graphic area and fans are convinced that it is a terrible case of money laundering for how can such a huge budget result in such shoddy graphics.

Not Even $225M Budget Could Save Marvel’s She-Hulk

She-HulkShe-Hulk was a ‘VFX’ disappointment
The Marvel Cinematic Universe has successfully branched itself into one of the most complex, interwoven, yet interesting universes in the film industry. As it keeps branching, it seems things are getting worse and worse for the once box office-dominating franchise. While fans have been criticizing it for being too complex, there are other major reasons that it has been falling apart.

One of the biggest causes of fans’ disappointment is the shoddy graphics that are present in many of Marvel’s latest projects. One show that was heavily criticized was Tatiana Maslany starrer She-Hulk, whose lead was supposed to be entirely CGI-driven.

The terrible graphics and super-unrealistic CGI naturally made fans hate it. Even with a gigantic budget of $225 million, with a single episode costing around $25 million, She-Hulk was a huge disappointment.

The problem does not only lie in the VFX logjam, it also lies in the script development and the studio’s lack of oversight in recent projects, as reported by Variety. Nearly every department of the MCU seems to be over-burdened especially with the constant expansion of storylines.

With ‘halfbaked’ storylines and constant reviews, the VFX team has to bear the majority of the burden, and hence projects like She-Hulk and Secret Invasion come about even after having shockingly high budgets.

Marvel projects are famous for their extreme budgets, but lately, even with such budgets, their projects are filled with undeveloped and messy VFX. As per a report by Variety, She-Hulk had a huge budget of $25 million per episode, dwarfing the likes of Game of Thrones. Despite this, the VFX of the series was a severe disappointment, which made several fans on social media claim that Marvel has a sinister money laundering problem.

There has gotta be fraud going on somewhere here.

i’m convinced this is some type of money laundering ngl

All that money and the show still wasn’t that good and the special effects seriously struggled?
That’s what happens when you rush things and don’t properly pay the people who make the stuff.

Where did the money go? It didn’t go to the actors or VFX workers we know that, inflated budgets for tax reason is my guess. It just doesn’t make sense.

Did they just steal like three quarters of it, like where did the money go to? Definitely not cgi

Well, money laundering or not, Marvel has a huge problem to fix if it wants to maintain its reign as a box-office-dominating franchise worldwide.

She-Hulk can be streamed on Disney+.
