Tom Brady has been called out for a recent comment he made about the difference between himself and Patrick Mahomes.

Brady, who was a guest on ‘The Pivot Podcast’ last month, claimed to regret the seriousness with which he approached his career, noting that current stars seem to have way more fun playing football.

“What I would have changed was, ‘OK, there’s part of me that still loves … You see these young players. I see, like, Patrick [Mahomes] out there at quarterback, laughing, having fun. I’m like, ‘I used to be like that! ‘ What the hell happened to me? I just got too serious,” he said (H/T The Mirror).

Tom Brady’s Former Teammate Doesn’t Think The Former QB Could Have played Differently

Christian Fauria, a former teammate of Brady’s who won two Super Bowls with the New England Patriots, doesn’t buy the above. He just doesn’t believe Brady would have been able to take a more relaxed approach.

“I think Brady is a liar,” he said while speaking on WEEI Boston Sports Original, per Marca. “When I heard it, I was like, ‘Who’s he kidding? He can’t change. He can’t downshift. This is not who he is. He’s not wired like Mahomes.

“I’ve seen him have a great time; I’ve heard him laugh and joke around. But when it came to the game, you could see it during certain passes, or where he won a game or got a first down. “He’s extremely happy, he’s celebrating like a little kid, but the reality is he is just wired so differently than Mahomes. Everything about him is different.”

While Mahomes’ on-field behavior works for him and has helped him win three Super Bowls, Brady likely wouldn’t have seen half as much success as he has if he was less serious.
