“I didn’t know anything about Boston. Then it became the place where I raised my family.”

Tom Brady has made countless memories in Massachusetts.

Though the New England legend now lives in Florida and often travels around the country as an NFL analyst, he spent several years on Beacon Street.

In an interview for GQ Sports’ “On The Road” series, Brady discussed his travel habits and reflected on his time in Boston.

“The community here is really amazing for families,” he told GQ’s Matthew Roberson. “Everyone thinks Boston is this big, massive city. It’s a town. You can develop a lot of close relationships, and I did that over two decades of living here. It was a big, impactful part of my life.”

Whenever he drives through the city, Brady can’t help but point out the parks he used to go to with his kids or the hockey rink where his son would practice at night as snow fell.

“I didn’t know anything about Boston. Then it became the place where I raised my family,” Brady said. “My kids still go, ‘Daddy, why aren’t we going back to Boston?’”

The seven-time Super Bowl champion moved to Florida in 2020 after signing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He now owns a waterfront mansion in Miami, while his old Back Bay property sold for $8.4 million in October.

Brady also recalled practicing at the University of San Diego in 2014. The trip proved to be an important experience for the team, Brady said.

“San Diego was so great for our team,” said Brady. “We had a good season, but we were going through some ups and downs. That bonding trip was kind of a big reason why we got to the Super Bowl that year and won.”
