Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce apologized Wednesday morning for his Super Bowl sideline confrontation with his head coach Andy Reid, calling his behavior “unacceptable,” after an estimated 123 million people watched Kelce scream on the sidelines during the first half of the Chiefs’ Super Bowl win on Sunday.podcast, which he co-hosts with his brother, former Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce.

Jason Kelce brought up the incident, which occurred in the second quarter of the Chiefs’ dramatic 25-22 overtime win over the San Francisco 49ers, telling the younger Kelce he “crossed the line” by accosting Reid, the Chiefs’ 65-year-old coach fresh off his third Super Bowl win with the team.The Chiefs’ tight end agreed that he crossed a line, saying he “can’t get that fired up to that point where I’m bumping coach and it’s getting him off balance and stuff,” adding the incident “came in a moment where we weren’t playing very well” and that “emotions get away from me.”

The Super Bowl sideline blowout—which Kelce said both he and Reid were able to “chuckle” about later—came as the Chiefs’ offensive woes against a formidable 49ers defense kept them to only 3 points in the first half, with Chiefs’ running back Isiah Pacheco fumbling in the red zone.
