Tulisa Contostavlos has broken her silence after deleting all reminders of her I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! journey from social media.
Tulisa was the third celebrity to be ditched from the ITV jungle, following Loose Women’s Jane Moore and BBC DJ Dean McCullough. Now she says she just needed some “me time” before posting on Instagram.
Tulisa explained she felt “overwhelmed” by the “bombardment” on social media, telling fans in a new Reel: “Hi guys, I’m just doing a little video to clear a couple things up.
“Just so you know, when I came out of the jungle I felt fine first of all, and then that evening I went to bed, I was on my Instagram just trying to have a nice little casual scroll at some funny stuff or the stuff I like to watch.
Tulisa has broken her silence
“I thought, ‘Do you know what, I really just need to take a bit of time for me and just chill, this is all feeling just a little bit much at the moment. I’m going to archive all my stuff to do with the jungle and when the time is right and I’ve had time to process, I’m gonna make my own Reels with all my best bits that I really like’.
“Remember, I haven’t been doing my Instagrams – the way everything’s posted and all the random stuff is not the way I would do my Insta. I would have one or two really good Reels related to the jungle and bringing together my time in there. But I just wanted to clear up the reasons why I did that and just be honest.
“It’s okay to feel a little bit overwhelmed. I’ve been out of the spotlight for a long time and I’m still trying to overcome those things. I’ve still got my little demons. It doesn’t mean I’m going to go and hide under a rock for another 10 years, it just means I need a little bit of time to just process and get right with my thoughts.”
She was keen to clarify comments she made about her fellow campmates
Tulisa added: “Thank you to ITV and to I’m A Celeb for being really understanding and patient with me. Mental health is important and I am super grateful for all the love and support that I’ve had. I just get a bit overwhelmed.
“I’m a bit of an introvert, guys – I’ve been in a jungle with people I’d only just met for two and a half weeks straight and then I’ve come out, seen loads and loads of attention, and I’m like woah, this is a lot. I just needed a bit of a breather.”
She then went on to clarify the meaning behind some of her comments made on ITV’s Lorraine, when fans assumed she was branding her campmates “fake”.
She said at the time: “I feel like I have [become friends] with some of them. I think they will be friends for life. But a lot of people for the cameras were being very pally pally but the real test will be when everyone is out. Will they make the effort to send texts in the group chat? Will they do the four hour drives to see each other? We’ll see…”
She posted a candid video to Instagram
Now Tulisa has cleared up her comments, explaining: “I just want to clarify I do not think that any of my campmates are fake. I was having a conversation on Lorraine and what I was trying to say is – typical me just thinking out loud – is that everyone in there is gonna have one or two individuals they’re way more close with than others.
“When we get out is when you’re really gonna see those friendships get nurtured and the people that really become your friends for life.
“You’re gonna be friends with everyone. I love my jungle buddies, my jungle fam, but there’s gonna be friendships that people have that really get nurtured and become something that’s like, ‘Wow this is a friend for life’. That was all I was trying to say.”
She finished off her lengthy statement by telling fans: “Love you lots like jelly tots. I’m gonna have a little week to just become one with my thoughts. I will be back,” and captioned her post: “Just need a little me time. Be back soon x.”
