ALISON Hammond’s brand new show on the BBC is just days away in what will be another major blow to ITV.

The popular This Morning star signed on with the BBC for a brand new travel show – her second programme with the broadcaster in the last 12 months.

Titled Florida Unpacked, she will be exploring the sunshine state of Florida with her son Aidan, aged 19.

The series is a new ten-parter for BBC Two and will follow Alison and Aidan as they make their way around all the very best that Florida has to offer on an affordable budget.

Fans can tune into episodes from Monday 27 January on BBC Two at 6:30pm with it continuing weekdays in the same timeslot throughout the week.

The pair will be heading off the beaten track in order to find some hidden gem activities during their epic adventure.

They will dish out their money-saving tips and advise on how best to get the best bang for your buck whilst in the sun-soaked US state.

Speaking about the programme, Alison said: “Travel is in my blood. For years I worked as a tour rep following in the footsteps of my dear mum.

“This meant I was lucky and got to visit Florida from a young age.

“I was so captivated by America’s culture, food, TV shows, and films and some of my happiest memories are tied to those first formative trips to the U.S.

“We managed to budget our way to a place that totally captured our hearts… and now I can’t wait to share Florida’s best kept secrets with you all.”

It comes after what was described as a “continuing nightmare” for ITV after Alison agreed to both the travel show and her own interview series, Big Weekend, on the rival BBC

A TV insider said: “This is a continuing nightmare for ITV as Alison is seen by them as one of their biggest stars — but she’s increasingly working for their rivals.”

Alison, who is seen by ITV execs as one of their greatest stars, has recently begun to expand by taking up work with other channels.

She was snapped up to be host of Channel 4’s The Great British Bake Off and has become a hit on the programme.

In addition to her work on This Morning, ITV handed Alison another series of For The Love Of Dogs despite receiving backlash after taking over the reigns from previous host, the late Paul O’Grady.

ITV bosses made the decision to continue with the beloved format following the Lily Savage star’s death in March 2023 with cardiac arrhythmia.

But the This Morning presenter has stirred up backlash and fakery claims from the show’s fans.

Especially, over her presenting style – including the habit of saying ‘babs’ during the episodes.

Alison hit back at her critics in a previous interview with The Sun, admitting ‘trolls will be trolls’.

She said: “I was actually surprised with how much [trolling] I got for doing the show.

“I could understand in the sense that Paul was so loved, and people were saying: ‘How can she do Love Of Dogs when she doesn’t have a dog? How does she love dogs when she doesn’t have a dog?’ It’s like saying: ‘How can you love children when you haven’t got kids?’

“It’s such a flawed argument for me, and all I would say is: ‘If you don’t want to watch it, don’t watch it.’ That’s what I would say to those trolls: ‘Don’t watch it then. If you don’t want to help Battersea, don’t watch it’.”

Alison added: “Trolls will be trolls and I’ll still do what I do best, which is TV presenting and you’ll see for yourself, I think it’s authentic and I loved doing it.

“Trolls are trolls, it says more about them than it does me, really. I would never troll anybody, even if I thought it, I wouldn’t go online and put it down.”

Many fans of the show believe Alison isn’t as dedicated because she does not have any pets, unlike Paul, who had three dogs, two of them rescued from Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, where the show is filmed.

And many long-time fans felt it wasn’t living up to Paul’s legacy as it feels “scripted” and fake.

Alison Hammond’s Florida Unpacked airs weekdays from Mon 27 Jan at 6.30pm on BBC2.
