But, life was not as fantastic as it looks now during Johnson’s earlier years. He was practically broke and struggling to pay rent. He even had to resort to illegal ways just to survive. It is true, indeed, that the Black Adam star has one of the most inspiring stories to tell.

Dwayne Johnson Used To Steal Snickers And Live On The Road

In his interview with CBS Sunday Morning, Jumanji star Dwayne Johnson spoke about his childhood life and how his family struggled to make ends meet. He revealed how miserable their living condition was as they practically had no place to call home. Johnson admitted:
“We were nomads. We had that life up until I was 16 years old. We lived on the road, and I spent a lot of my time growing up in the back seat of a car.”
Because he was so broke at that time, he was tempted to resort to shoplifting snacks. In his Instagram account, Johnson wrote a confession about the time he used to steal Snickers from 7-Eleven:
“We were evicted from Hawaii in ‘87, and after all these years – I finally got back home to right this wrong. I was broke as hell, so I used to steal a king-sized Snickers every day from 7-11 for almost a year when I was 14 years old, on my way to the gym. The Snickers was my pre-daily workout.”

The actor mentioned how the same clerk just ignored him and never called the police. The crime Johnson committed haunted him for years, and every time he comes back to Hawaii and passes by the store, he always feels the need to clear out the Snickers section. He believes this is the least he could do for all the Snickers he stole when he was younger. Johnson reflected:
“We can’t change the past and some of the dumb stuff we may have done, but every once in a while, we can add a little redeeming grace note to that situation — and maybe put a big smile on some stranger’s faces.”
Now, Johnson can afford more than an entire shelf of Snickers! He is proof that we can always rise above any problems as long as we keep working hard and never forget where we come from.

Dwayne Johnson’s Company Is A Reminder Of His Past

In the same interview with CBS Sunday Morning, the host mentioned Dwayne Johnson’s company Seven Bucks Productions as a reminder of the actor’s humble beginnings.

The Moana star went to college under a football scholarship, but after he was severely injured and other personal problems came his way, he was sent home with only seven bucks in his pocket. He named his company Seven Bucks Productions to remind him of where he started.

In the mid-90s, Johnson entered the world of wrestling to redeem himself and get out of poverty. From there, even though he still faced a lot of trials, the Rampage actor began to make a name for himself.
