Wembanyama, 19, and Durant, 35, were guarding each other for a big chunk of the game.

And the matchup produced an unbelievable highlight reel with clips of the duel going viral all night long.

Durant drew first blood, hitting a beautiful rainbow shot over the 7-foot-4 Frenchman in the first quarter.

Toward the end of the half, the 6-foot-11 Suns forward posterized Wemby off an out-of-bound pass.

And Wembanyama responded by easily beating KD as he cut to the basket before slamming a one-handed jam over Chris Eubanks to register his first bucket of the night.

NBA fans couldn’t believe their eyes as the two NBA superstars went at it on primetime TV.

“That KD and Wemby sequence is going on promos all year,” one wrote before adding, “We’re gonna see that on a doc in 30 years.”

“Like I said KD vs Wemby is must-see TV,” another said.

“Nah I can’t, KD vs Wemby is literally a clash of the titans, these MFs are too tall,” a third wrote.

“Seeing Wemby go against KD reminds me of when LeBron first got to the league and matched up with Kobe…” one added.

Wembanyama and Durant were also heavily involved in the frenetic end to the game.

KD didn’t box out the Spurs star, leading to a putback dunk from Wemby that reduced Phoenix’s lead to 115-114 with just seven seconds left.

Keldon Johnson then wrestled the ball away from the two-time NBA MVP on the next possession before driving to the rim and securing a win for San Antonio with an easy layup.

Wembanyama finished the game with 18 points, eight rebounds, and four blocks, shooting 50% from the field and 33.3% for 3.

Meanwhile, Durant ended up with 26 points, seven assists, and two steals, hitting 63.2% of his shot attempts.

After the game, Wemby said he had to forget Durant was his “idol” as he faced him on the hardwood.

“I got to lock in and think yeah, he’s going to try to step on me the whole game so … I don’t care he’s my idol,” the No. 1 pick said of his mindset during the game.

Wemby would then suffer an awkward moment in his postgame interview after Inside the NBA analyst Charles Barkley asked him what’s the French word for a churro.
