Recently, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin announced that quarterback Russell Wilson would be the starter for the team’s game against the New York Jets.

For the first six weeks of the season, Justin Fields had been filling in at the spot for Wilson, who had been dealing with a calf injury.

Of course, this is a big development after Fields had led the team to a respectable 4-2 record.

New footage from the Steelers’ practice has been released. It shows Wilson and Fields working on the same drills.

It’s all relatively simple: we go over bootleg passes and quick-out routes, roll out of the pocket, and throwing on the run.

Unfortunately for Wilson, many people on social media point out some major differences between him and Fields.

“He looks slow compared to Fields,” said one comment.

“Fields looks much more fluid from the pocket,” said another.

“I’ll say this Justin’s Sleight of hand is so crisp on play action plays he’s gonna be so good in this league but what they’re doing is idiotic and doesn’t make sense you’re 4-2 and aren’t doing shit but messing with a young QBs mental he’s playing exceptional,” added a third.

“Fields looks so much better lol,” continued a fourth.

It’s safe to say that the organization and its fans are divided on who should be the starting quarterback going forward.

Russell Wilson Has Not Played SInce December of 2023

It’s certainly a big risk to throw Wilson back onto the field after he missed the first six games this year and the last two in 2023.

The last time he played was Christmas Eve last year, and he had a pretty good game, throwing for 238 yards, two touchdowns, and zero interceptions. He also had a 103.2 passer rating.

Still, it’s strange to mess with the chemistry of a team that’s 4-2 and second in their division.
