New York Jets superstar cornerback Sauce Gardner sent his fans into a frenzy by posing a viral video of himself golfing in awful conditions.

Not only did Sauce Gardner try to tough it out by golfing in a thunderstorm, but he didn’t even try to dress himself up for the conditions. Gardner decided to golf in the rain without a shirt on…and with a pair of shorts instead of rainproof pants?

Understandably, football fans were freaking out over Sauce Gardner’s decision to risk his well-being in the rain…with training camp just around the corner no less:

We know NFL players need time to enjoy recreational activities, but you can’t help but wonder if Jets coaches may have a talk with Gardner. Golf is a relatively safe activity…as long as you’re not playing in a thunderstorm.

The No. 4 pick of the 2022 NFL Draft has quickly emerged as one of the league’s elite defensive players. For the second straight year, Pro Football Focus ranked Sauce Gardner as the No. 1 cornerback in 2023.

The Cincinnati product has two interceptions to begin his career, but that number is low because opposing quarterbacks are wise in avoiding his direction. Gardner also has 31 pass breakups, one forced fumble and 132 combined tackles.

Sauce Gardner & Jets Aim To End 14-Year Playoff Drought

The Jets are the unfortunate owners of the longest active drought in the big four professional sports leagues (NFL, NHL, NBA and MLB), having last qualified for the postseason in 2010.

Another New York team, the NHL’s Buffalo Sabres, owns the second-longest active drought. They last qualified for the playoffs since 2011 and have consistently been near the bottom of the standings during that period.

With a healthy Aaron Rodgers leading the offense, the pieces are there for the Jets to re-emerge as contenders in 2024. Their quest to ending the postseason drought begins with a Week 1 “Monday Night Football” road game against the San Francisco 49ers.
