Hanna and Haley Cavinder return to Miami

Hanna and Haley Cavinder announced that they are both returning for their final year of college eligibility. Hanna announced on Wednesday that she would be returning to the Miami Hurricanes for her last season.

A day later, Haley also joined her sister in Miami, taking back her commitment from TCU, which she announced in November.

The Hurricanes Instagram handle welcomed the Cavinder twins with a short clip that had a press release saying “we’re back” along with the signatures of the twins.

Regarding her decision to come back after exploring the WWE world, Hanna Cavinder said via X:

“My last season of basketball was one of the most successful & challenging yrs of my life but it helped me grow immensely. The past few months I have been itching to get back to the game that I thought I lost the passion for.”

Hanna averaged 12.1 points and 3.3 rebounds in her first three seasons at Fresno State. In her senior year at Miami, she averaged 3.8 points and 1.3 rebounds.

With the introduction of NIL in 2021, the Cavinder twins moved to Miami for a bigger platform. They were considered the NIL pioneers and were the first to almost reach $1 million (per On3) in the first year. After the move to Coral Gables, it increased to $2 million.

Their following increased, and after their senior season, they announced their intentions to leave college basketball.

The twins began a podcast, vlogging on YouTube and also signed a contract with WWE. They were training at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando for a possible in-ring career.

Haley Cavinder prioritizes her bond with her twin in her decision to play at Miami

Haley Cavinder announced her commitment to TCU with a return for the 2024-25 season. However, with Hanna choosing the Hurricanes, the twin also followed suit.

“There is nothing more important than family and the bond I share with my twin sister,” Haley Cavinder wrote on X.

“Being presented with the opportunity to play together one more time is something I cannot pass up. I am excited for this upcoming season and can’t wait to play at the U.”

After an incredible three seasons at Fresno State, Haley Cavinder joined Miami for her final season and led the team to its first Elite Eight performance, where it lost to LSU. She averaged 12.2 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.5 assists.

The announcement of Haley and Hanna Cavinder’s return has sparked speculation among fans. Some believe that the move was either due to their NIL money running out or that the twins saw how Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese, and other female basketball players were able to make money with NIL and so chose to come.
