Chris Hemsworth was pictured sitting next to Angelina Jolie at the Golden Globes on Sunday night, and fans soon flocked to Twitter to remark how similar he looked to her ex-husband Brad Pitt.

And when Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi later took to Instagram to share the full photo – which included himself on the same table – Chris’ wife Elsa Pataky couldn’t resist writing a cheeky comment.

The Spanish actress and model, 41, who shares three children with Chris, wrote, ‘What a great couple’, before cheekily adding: ‘I mean you boys!’

It comes after Golden Globe viewers did a double take when Angelina was seated next to the Australian actor in the audience.

The 42-year-old Oscar winner looked in happy spirits as she posed with Chris, who has frequently been compared to a young brad Pitt.

Fans have often remarked that when Chris starred in Avengers, he looked very similar to Brad when he appeared in 2004 film Troy.

Tongue-in-cheek: After fans noted how much Chris Hemsworth looked like Angelina Jolie's ex-husband Brad Pitt, Elsa joked 'What a great couple', before clarifying what she really meant

In happier times: Jolie and Pitt were side by side at the Globes in 2012

One tweet from Sunday read: ‘No one acknowledges the similarity between these two! I confuse Chris with Brad all the time.’

Another fan wrote on social media: ‘For a long time I thought that Brad Pitt played Thor in avengers. LOL.’

Chris, 34, has been married to Elsa Pataky for seven years.

Photo bomber: Also at the A list table eight was director Taika Waititi

He is best known for his roles in Hollywood films Thor, The Avengers, and In The Heart Of The Sea.

Chris can next be seen in Avengers: Infinity War in May.

Brad, who is still in the process of working out the details of his divorce from Angelina, did not attend the Globes on Sunday.
