Chris Hemsworth Was About To Quit Acting And Wanted To Return Back To Australia

During an interview with the reputed media outlet Men’s Health, Chris Hemsworth was asked about one of the lowest phases of his life, when he had almost decided to give up on his acting career because nothing worked according to what he had expected. He said-

I was about to quit. I always wanted to act, and one of the first things I wanted to do when I got any money was pay my parents’ house off. I’d asked Dad once when he thought he’d pay it off and he said, “Honestly, probably never.” Most people are in that boat and I wanted to change that. So I was super active with auditions. Then in that eight-month period, I got more and more anxious, to the point where I couldn’t harness that energy.”

He even mentioned repeatedly questioning himself

“Why did I start this?”

He further added-

“I was trying to convince myself I wasn’t nervous before auditions rather than grabbing hold of it and going, [deep intake of breath] “Use it, raise up your awareness here, sharpen your focus. And then my mentality changed, which came from being at a point where I was like, “I’m going to go back to Australia.”

While talking about his first break, he said-

“I had one more audition where I was like, “Do this for his house. Think about reasons other than yourself.” That was for The Cabin in the Woods, and I got that job, and from there I got Red Dawn. And then I got Thor.”

If only Chris Hemsworth had decided to give up his acting career, the world would have never witnessed what beauty, charisma, and talent can look like when combined together.

Chris Hemsworth On playing Marvel’s Thor

During the promotion of the second season of Extraction, Chris Hemsworth appeared in the June cover story of media outlet Entertainment Weekly. From talking about his acting career to his action series Extraction, the actor discussed various aspects of his life. On being asked about whether he would be seen as Thor again, Chris Hemsworth replied-

“Maybe!”

He further said-

“I’ve got to be careful how I word that because I have no idea what’s happening in the next phase. There’s always conversations, like with Extraction. Before anything is official, people are throwing around ideas. But officially, I don’t know.”

While talking about how long he would want to reprise the character of Thor, he pointed out

“I don’t want to continue to do it until people are so exhausted that they roll their eyes when they see me come on the screen as that character. If an audience wants to see it, and if there’s something that we believe is exciting and fun, then great. I’ve loved being able to reinvent that character a few times. I don’t have the answer yet, but I would love to try and [figure out] how we can do that again and keep it a little unpredictable.”

The Australian actor last appeared in Thor: Love And Thunder in 2022, post that the actor was seen in the second season of his widely watched Netflix action drama Extraction.
