Will Smith is teasing a major new sequel to one of his highest-grossing films — and he thinks Zendaya would be perfect for the cast.
The 56-year-old Oscar winner shared his film news during an appearance Wednesday on the Twitch stream with Canadian gamer xQc (real name: Félix Lengyel).
The actor — who made an appearance at the Grammy Awards earlier this month without his wife Jada Pinkett Smith — also weighed in on Michael B. Jordan, who is starring in a sequel to his 2008 horror–survival film I Am Legend.
Will revealed that an idea was in the works for a sequel to his hit 2008 superhero film Hancock.
‘There’s a really cool, really cool Hancock 2 idea,’ he announced. ‘We haven’t even talked about it so I’m gonna give you one little piece — Zendaya will be being being approached for a role in Hancock 2.’
Will Smith teased a potential sequel to his 2008 superhero hit Hancock on a Twitch stream with Canadian gamer xQc on Wednesday. He said he has a part in mind for Zendaya
‘There’s a really cool, really cool Hancock 2 idea,’ he announced. ‘We haven’t even talked about it so I’m gonna give you one little piece — Zendaya will be being being approached for a role in Hancock 2.’
Smith didn’t venture any other details about the film.
Hancock’s original studio, Sony Pictures, had no comment on Will’s plans for a sequel, according to Variety.
The original film was a box office hit in 2008 despite being savaged by critics.
It managed to gross an impressive $629.4 million against a $150 million budget, according to Box Office Mojo, which made it the fourth highest-grossing film of the year, as well as one of Will’s most-successful movies.
He starred in the title role of a seemingly immortal man with Superman-like abilities who has fallen on hard times and descended into alcoholism.
After he saves the life of a PR specialist (Jason Bateman), Hancock becomes entwined with him and his wife (Charlize Theron).
Bateman’s character tries to help Hancock turn around his life and become the admired crime fighter he once aspired to be, even as the floundering hero develops a surprising connection to Theron’s character.
The film’s success naturally led to chatter about a potential sequel in the immediate aftermath, but it never came to pass, and theaters have since become saturated with Marvel and DC superhero films.

Will didn’t offer any details about who Zendaya might play in a Hancock sequel, which Sony did not confirm. She recently starred in the acclaimed Challengers and will be returning for Euphoria season three, set to arrive in 2026; pictured December 2 in NYC
However, as the dueling studios’ offerings have been increasingly disappointed fans and critics, there may be room for a different take on the superhero story.
In 2020, Charlize acknowledged to ComicBook.com that talk of a sequel had gone dormant in recent years, but she reiterated that she was still game to come back for more Hancock ‘in a heartbeat’ if a sequel was organized.
Will didn’t offer any hints about how Zendaya might fit into a Hancock sequel, but his character was revealed to have lived for thousands of years and to have had romantic relationships with other super-powered individuals, so she might fit right in as a long-lost child with powers of her own.
She recently starred in the acclaimed romantic sports drama Challengers with Josh O’Connor and Mike Faist.
She’s also set to finally return to HBO’s Euphoria with a much-anticipated third season in 2026.
Earlier in the stream, Will sang Michael B. Jordan’s praises after he was cast in a sequel to his hit horror film I Am Legend.
‘There’s a scope of understanding that Michael B. Jordan has that everybody doesn’t have. He’s a rare one,’ he gushed.
