But insiders said Liz is backing his decision to take legal action against the BBC after it axed him over a sexual comment.

A source said: “Wynne’s departure from the tour and his radio show was a really tough time and it put his relationship with Liz under strain.

“They have now reconnected and Liz is completely supporting Wynne.

“She is back in his house in Wales and they are very much a couple

” These past few weeks have been hell for Wynne but to have Liz by his side has made all the difference.”

Yesterday, The Sun reported that Wynne, 53 — the face of insurance comparison website Go Compare — was set to take the BBC to a tribunal.

He was dismissed last month after making a comment about a “spit-roast” during the Strictly tour’s press launch in Birmingham.

Friends insist the remark was misconstrued.

Execs at Go Compare are said to have since held crisis meetings about the star, who they pay around £200,000 a year.

One pal said: “Wynne feels he has been treated unfairly and won’t go down without a fight.

“As well as an unfair dismissal, Wynne thinks he has a case for loss of earnings, as well as a potential breach of contract.”

Wynne was also accused of “groping” his pro partner Katya Jones, 35, during last year’s Strictly series, but the pair later insisted it was an in-joke
