LOVE Island couple Joey Essex and Jessy Potts have split just seven weeks after leaving the villa.

The Love Island stars confirmed the news exclusively to The Sun, with Towie legend Joey, 34, insisting he hopes to stay friends with Jessy, 25.

Joey told us: “Unfortunately, we have decided to call an end to the relationship but I hope we can continue to be friends.

“I truly wish Jessy the very best with whatever she does in the future.”

And Jessy added: “I appreciate the Love Island experience I had with Joey, we tried to make it work but it wasn’t to be.

“I’m so grateful to everyone who supported us and look forward to all of the exciting opportunities ahead.”

Joey and Jessy have battled split rumours since leaving the villa, with their busy schedules meaning they were unable to spend time together.

Today, The Sun revealed Joey is eyeing up a career change and will soon enter a training camp to become a boxer.

A source added: “Joey has always been super busy and things got even more hectic after the villa.

“He’s now going away to boxing camp as well so things were just getting hard.

“Jesy also had her own thing going on and was here, there and everywhere after the show. It was too difficult to keep up with each other.”

Joey is in talks to take on either Tommy Fury, KSI or Jake Paul in a huge, marquee fight in 2025.

An insider explained: “Joey’s always been into his fitness but in recent years has become more and more passionate about boxing.

“Joey is excited about this new venture and looks forward to one day taking on the titans of the ropes.”
