ITV’s This Morning is set for a temporary shake-up as Ben Shephard has announced that he and Cat Deeley will be taking a short break from their presenting duties.
The 49-year-old TV host confirmed the news on Instagram, revealing that the duo will be stepping away for the half-term break before returning to the show.
Ben Shephard Confirms Break on Social Media
Ben, who has been co-hosting This Morning alongside Cat Deeley, took to Instagram to update his followers about his temporary departure.
Posting behind-the-scenes pictures from the Thursday, February 13 episode, Ben shared a heartfelt message about the end of the week.
“Ahhh lovely end of the week for me and @catdeeley.
Thanks for all your messages. I hope everyone is ready for some hardcore Valentines/Palentines/Galentines (delete where appropriate) action!!”
He reassured fans that their break would be short, adding:
“We’ll be back in the studio after half term!! Thanks @kenmckayphoto for these ace pics too.”
Fans React to Ben and Cat’s Short Hiatus
Viewers of This Morning quickly responded to Ben’s post, expressing their admiration for the on-screen chemistry between him and Cat. Many were disappointed to see them taking a break, but they also wished them well during their time off.

Who Will Replace Ben and Cat on This Morning?

The pair have previously covered presenting duties when regular hosts were unavailable. Alison and Dermot currently co-host This Morning every Friday, a role they have held since 2020 after replacing Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford.
Alison Hammond, 49, has been part of This Morning since 2002, first appearing as a showbiz reporter before securing a regular hosting spot.
Dermot O’Leary, 50, has been a well-known ITV presenter for years and previously filled in for Phillip Schofield in 2014.
Given their experience and existing connection with the audience, they seem like the natural choice to take over while Ben and Cat enjoy a short break.
Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley’s This Morning Journey
Ben and Cat officially joined This Morning in February 2024, taking over the Monday-to-Thursday slot after the departures of Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby.
Phillip Schofield left This Morning in May 2023 after more than 20 years as a presenter.
Holly Willoughby stepped down in October 2023 after 14 years on the show.
