Dianne Buswell appeared emotional by a discovery weeks on from her Strictly Come Dancing triumph as she shared a public message to her celebrity dance partner Chris McCausland.

The pair have now had a few weeks to get used to the fact they made history on the hit dance show by lifting the Glitterball trophy at the end of the 2024 series on December 14.

Comedian Chris, who was Strictly’s first-ever blind contestant, and Dianne were paired together for the 20th-anniversary series of the show back in September and were eventually crowned Strictly’s latest champions at the end of the 2024 series following the glittering grand final.

They beat fellow finalists Miranda actress Sarah Hadland and partner Vito Coppola, Love Island star Tasha Ghouri and dancer Aljaz Skorjanec and JLS singer JB Gill and partner Lauren Oakley to lift the famous Glitterball trophy, which Chris described in the aftermath as “astonishing”.

After Tess Daly announced them as this year’s winners, Chris cried and hugged his partner Dianne, with them both appearing to be in disbelief, before they were celebrated by their co-stars.

Now, Dianne has had an unexpected reminder of her time with Chris as she made a discovery in her dance bag. Fans of the pair will know that they regularly kept them updated with posts on social media and as well as chatting about how training was going, they also partook in a few games, including ‘guess the flavour of the KitKat’ in which Chris would get Dianne to try the different flavours of chocolate bars he had sourced.

Alongside a picture of a small original KitKat, Dianne wrote on her Instagram Story: “Cleaning my Strictly dance bag out! Found a Kit Kat. Made me [face holding back tears emoji].” She added: “@chrismccauslandcomedy shall we get together soon and do another episode?”

It comes after Dianne shared the last video the pair recorded together in their Strictly journey before Christmas. But the video got off to a confrontational start as Chris started to probe Dianne over why he hadn’t received the chocolates her dad, Mark, had bought for Chris during a trip to Belgium. She revealed he’d been asking her if Chris had enjoyed the gift ‘every day’, but she confessed that Chris had ‘enough’ chocolate in his bag and therefore ate the ones her dad got for Chris herself.

Dianne was then quick to move on as she said: “Chris, I don’t want to get you emotional but this might be our last ‘guess the flavour of the KitKat’,” before she added: “To be honest, the flavours are getting worse every week so I’m kind of happy about it.” But Chris replied: “I think you’re lucky to have this and so are the people at home.”
