Past comments from Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones suggest he’ll again vote for Donald Trump in the 2024 U.S. presidential election.
Jerry Jones has donated millions of dollars to Republican politicians over the years. In 2017, USA Today reported that the Dallas Cowboys owner donated $1 million to Trump’s inaugural committee.
A January 2020 story by Steve Gardner of USA Today about Jones’ support for Trump and the GOP has resurfaced. The story noted that in Oct. 2019, Jones gave a reporter the following answer at NFL Owners meetings when questioned about his support for the Republican party:
“That’s how the country should be run but don’t (expletive) with me, all right?”
Additionally, it was reported in November 2022 that Jerry Jones donated $500,000 to Texas Governor Greg Abbott. And a month before the 2020 election, Jones said that Donald Trump is “the hardest worker you’ve ever seen.”
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones on @1053thefan unprompted: “I want to express my sensitivity and concern for the President. …Knowing him, he’s the hardest worker you’ve ever seen. Knowing him, he’ll be able to go right on through this and hopefully not miss a beat.”

Trump has had the support from a large number of NFL owners, including old friend Robert Kraft (New England Patriots), Stan Kroenke (Los Angeles Rams), Stephen Ross (Miami Dolphins), Woody Johnson (New York Jets), Jimmy Haslam (Cleveland Browns) and Mike Brown (Cincinnati Bengals).
Jerry Jones talks much more to the media than most other professional sports team owners. So it’s unsurprising that the 81-year-old has been happy to let the world know who he’s voting for.
Cowboys Look To Rebound From Another Ugly Playoff Loss
The Cowboys have recorded three straight 12-win seasons, but they have just a single playoff victory to show for it. That was a blowout win over Tom Brady’s 8-9 Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 2022 Wild Card Round.
Dallas finished as the No. 2 seed in the NFC last year, only to get crushed by the Green Bay Packers 48-32 at Jerry World. Despite the ugly loss, Jones decided to keep head coach Mike McCarthy while keeping the same core of players intact.
The Cowboys will open their 2024 season with a road contest against the Cleveland Browns on Sept. 8.
