Strictly Come Dancing fans were taken aback when a detail about Vito Coppola’s journey on the show was revealed. The Italian dancer became part of the popular dance competition in 2022.

Before his stint on the BBC One dance contest, Vito showcased his skills on the Italian version of The Masked Singer. In 2021, he joined the Italian dance television series Ballando con le Stelle as a professional for the 16th season.

He was paired with singer and actress Arisa, and they emerged as the winners of the series. In the subsequent year, he made his way to the UK after signing up for Strictly alongside fellow pro dancers Carlos Gu, Lauren Oakley and Michelle Tsiakkas.

He was partnered with Fleur East and they reached the final, but lost to eventual champions Hamza Yassin and Jowita Przysta.

Vito returned to the show in 2023, where he was teamed up with former Coronation Street star Ellie Leach. They went on to clinch the series title, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Now, the reigning champion of Strictly is poised to reach another final if he and his celebrity partner Sarah Hadland can navigate past the upcoming semi-final, scheduled for this Saturday night (December 7).

During the second last week of Strictly’s 20th-anniversary series, all five remaining couples will perform two dances each. It was disclosed what Vito and Sarah will be performing during their appearance on Strictly spin-off It Takes Two on Monday (December 2).

Vito Coppola, the Strictly sensation, shared his excitement alongside a backstage video with Sarah as they gear up for the semifinals this weekend.

He gushed: “We are sooooooo excited to dance this weekend the semifinal. Omg we are so grateful and super happy to be able to keep dancing… this week 2 dances. Tango and Jive… which is your favourite dance between these two? ? We will try to give our best for both of them. From tonight ITT #alwayswithlove #teamtiramisu.”

This thrilling update follows Vito’s tease during last Sunday’s (December 1) Strictly results show, prompting quite the stir among fans.

One Twitter user, expressed enthusiasm: “OMG jive and tango are perfect for Sarah and Vito! Yes! And I’ve been waiting for another jive, been such a lack of them this series! #Strictly,” while a second chimed in: “Omg vito first tango!” A third celebrated: “VITOS FIRST TANGO ON STRICTLY.”

Another shocked online user queried: “HE’S NEVER DONE A TANGO ON STRICTLY?” and a fifth internet goer predicted a stellar performance: “Sarah and Vito are going to smash the jive and tango next week, can’t wait! #Strictly.”

Lastly, a sixth comment read: “#Strictly I am so excited of Sarah and Vito’s jive to I am so Excited! Straight to the final? The second dance is a tango. #StrictlyComeDancing.”
