The oldest player in college football, Luke Larsen, has entered the transfer portal as he’s looking to play out his final NCAA term elsewhere.

The punter spent the last five years with East Carolina but will be on the move at the age of 32 ahead of next season.

Larsen is set to enter the portal as a grad student as he’s finishing his MBA at said university. The Pirates will likely rue his decision, considering how important a player he’s been for them. A late football bloomer, Larsen has made 174 punts for 7,099 yards, which ranks him fourth all-time in the program.

And, despite the opportunity to break the school’s record, he’s keen on moving on, per 247Sports.

“this has gotta be illegal,” a social media comment read.

“Arrest this man,” another demanded.

“Another Van Wilder!” a user pointed out.

How Is Luke Larsen Still Able To Play College Football?

Luke Larsen, who’s originally from Australia, didn’t start playing American football until he turned 28. He played his first season with East Carolina in 2020, so it didn’t count against his eligibility.

He redshirted in 2021 after making one appearance, which allowed him another season of eligibility, which he is now looking to play out somewhere else.
