For Spiderman fans, another reason to love the movie series was when Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone fell for each other in real life. The ex-couple came across each other on the sets of The Amazing Spider-Man in 2010. And romance started brewing between them while they were filming for the action-adventure movie.

In The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Stone’s character Gwen Stacy’s death made almost every fan cry. The scene where Gwen falls and snaps her neck was one of the most emotional scenes in the Spiderman film series.

As Gwen Stacy’s death scene was a very powerful and emotional moment in the movie, Andrew Garfield who played the character of Spiderman asked Emma Stone not to meet him for a week until they shoot the death scene. The Mainstream actor wanted the scene to look as real as possible. In Sean O’Connell’s book, With Great Power, there is a part that explains how the 39-year actor and Stone prepared for the heartbreaking scene in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. The book reads,
I remember when they were filming that scene, Andrew and Emma deliberately didn’t see each other for a week. Andrew Garfield said, ‘I don’t want to see you! When you come into that scene, you have to pretend like you are dead to me.’ It was very quiet.”
The book further reads,
“The sets were almost always very quiet. Marc Webb likes to work very focused. So it was very quiet, a totally closed set. And I just remember Andrew coming in and just crying uncontrollably. It was hours of that. That was grueling but powerful.”

These details mentioned in the book were revealed by VFX Supervisor Jerome Chen. He was part of the VFX team for the movie The Amazing Spiderman 2.

Reportedly, the Easy A actress and The Social Network actor started dating in 2010. In 2011 they were spotted out and about for a movie date in Los Angeles. The 34-year-old actress even celebrated Garfield’s birthday in Disneyland. Soon they started again filming for The Amazing Spiderman 2 and were seen together at every promotional event before the release of the film. In the year 2015, Stone and the 39-year-old actor parted ways, but there were no hard feelings between them.

According to reports, they were unable to handle a long-distance romance. In 2017, the Tick Tick Boom actor claimed that he is Stone’s biggest fan as an artist. The Cruella star married Dave McCary in 2020, and they welcomed their first child together in 2021. Garfield, on the other side, was dating Alyssa Miller, but the couple split up in 2022.
